NEW CAMARO COMES TO OSHAWA

Ouellette Congratulates GM Oshawa

Oshawa – Jerry Ouellette MPP Oshawa took part in today’s monumental announcement by General Motors Canada at the Oshawa Car Assembly Plant.

“General Motors has recognized the outstanding workers and favourable environment found in our great city and has decided to choose Oshawa as the plant to build the new Chevrolet Camaro in 2008”, says Ouellette.

The General Motors announcement also includes investments in the new ZETA-platform and FLEX-manufacturing capability at the Oshawa facility. “This new production technology secures the Oshawa plant as a state-of-the-art facility and ensures a bright future for GM in Oshawa”, adds Ouellette.

After weeks and months of speculation over the future development of this exciting new vehicle, the Oshawa Assembly plant was chosen over other General Motor’s facilities. This announcement serves to eliminate the rumours and speculation that have been rampant in our community over the future of the plant and employees since the company announced its intention of restructuring its North American production last November.

MPP Ouellette, an outspoken advocate for the local auto industry adds, “The assembly plants in Oshawa have long been recognized and awarded for their world-class production, efficiency and quality and are a testament to the dedicated, hard working individuals employed here”.

This is great news for Oshawa, our citizens and our diverse business community.
