Ouellette Fights for Commitment from Transportation Minister for Stevenson Road Interchange

Queen’s Park – Jerry Ouellette MPP, Oshawa today questioned Minister of Transportation, Harinder Takhar in the Legislature, on the status of the proposed new Highway 401 interchange at Stevenson Road.

Despite concerns the interchange will be built over the next four years, Mr. Ouellette says, “I am confident that this important interchange will come to Oshawa in a timely manner and I am taking the necessary steps to ensure this project comes to fruition.”

Our Strategic Plan emphasizes the importance of a strong transportation system in Oshawa. The previous Conservative government committed to the new interchange in accordance with the cost sharing agreement between the Ministry of Transportation and the Region of Durham.

“We have tremendous volumes of traffic at General Motors, we have the GO Transit service for commuters and we have a multitude of current and new yet to come businesses that will benefit from this new interchange,” said Mr. Ouellette.
